"This recording is an important
outing from one of the best swing
singers around today"
__ Scott Yanow, Los Angeles jazz critic
"Her voice has a
pleasing huskiness and she sings with rhythmic flair.."
__ London Jazz Journal
"This
record (It's Been a Long, Long, Time) is so
beautifully done that any jazz lover should melt under it's
spell". "Great tunes pack this disc".
__Chicago
Tribune
"Judi K is a
versatile artist with a genuine interest in what she does and she
invests each number with careful attention to detail producing
versions of each number which are faithful to the intentions of the
composer while allowing room for her own expression and those of her
sidemen".
__The Mississippi Rag
"Judi
K is at her best on ballads, displaying a lovely voice, a wide range
and impressive expressive powers, particularly on It's Been a
Long, Long, Time, Lover Man, I Remember You (which has
accompaniment from just guitar and mandolin) and a swinging
I've
Got a Feeling I'm Falling. A warm singer who can sing
softly while at other times letting out a Bessie Smith-type growl,
she can also swing at any tempo"
__ Los
Angeles Jazz Scene
“We have been
listening to Judi K’s “I’m Nobody’s Baby”, and she comes
through beautifully. Judi is such a striking and confident
performer. I am always floored by the way Judi handles the
transition from verse to chorus, particularly on Stairway to
Paradise and World on a String. She always knows exactly where
she is. I love to hear Judi on ballads, you can hear
everything coming from the heart”.
–Shelley Wruk,
Manager, Independence Hall Jazz Band.
“She knocked the
audience’ socks off!”
__ Linda Marty, Madison Jazz Society
"Judi
K has
a voice that is true and mellow, a fine singer"
__ Franz Jackson
"Vocalist Judi K
is
first class and was a crowd-pleasing favorite"

"...an
excellent album,
Judi K is a versatile artist"
__ Mississippi
Rag
"Judi K's recent album, I'm Nobody's Baby, is a great
testament to her 14 memorable years with Jim Beebe's Chicago Jazz All Stars.
Shortly after this CD was released, Judi threw a terrific 70th
birthday celebration for Jim at her gig at Frank's Place in
Northbrook (Ill.) Hilton, complete with cupcakes. This wonderful
blast drew a parade of Chicago jazz notables, who came to sit in,
including the great elder statesman Franz Jackson. Now, with Jim
easing off because of health reasons, Judi practices her own largely
ad hoc but endearing band leading skills, as she did in recent gig
with Jim's band at the Madison (WI) Jazz Society. At her own jazz
concerts, she knows how to muster all the usual suspects to good
advantage and is well worth catching wherever she plays.

Pete Maiken, retired editor, Chicago Tribune
"If I
were of the opposite sex and could sing, I would want my voice to be
like Judi's... touches of Peggy Lee, Patti Page, Doris Day, but with
definitely her own distinctive sound"
__ Jim Beebe
"Chicago chanteuse
Judi K drew ovations with
"Someone to Watch Over Me" and "Louisiana"
__ Rockford Register Star
"Judi K's
sexy contralto voice has the
tropic thrill in it that is reminiscent of Stafford's magic. It is a
belter's voice, strong and in control. It's a voice that with
a few show business breaks might have been a household-name
voice"

Art Shay, North Shore Magazine
"The concert was highlighted by
the rich deep lower register of Judi
K in the song "Do You
Know What It Means to Miss New Orleans", and our troubles
were put aside defeated by five gentlemen and
a lady presenting enlightening melodies and
pretty harmonies". " A most successful concert".
